- ➤ The Hartt School launched the 17th season of its newly renamed Garmany Concert Series with new artistic director Gilda Lyons and four upcoming concerts at Millard Auditorium. Verona Quartet will open on October 9, CONCORA will perform on October 23, Duo YUMENO will appear on February 19, and the Dalí Quartet will conclude the series on April 2—each show starting at 7:30 p.m. with tickets at $25 and free entry for University of Hartford affiliates. - ➤ A new study by Partnership for Strong Communities showed it would cost about $2.5 billion to expand Connecticut’s Rental Assistance Program—leaving over 175,000 of nearly 240,000 very low-income renter families without aid. The report revealed that only about 50,000 families received assistance and that state lawmakers recently added $18 million to help address the ongoing housing crisis. CT Mirror
- ➤ A United Way ALICE report found that 40% of Connecticut households, or 580,520 families, struggled to afford basics in 2023 due to rising inflation and a shortage of affordable housing. The organization plans to push for a state $600 per child tax credit and more funding for the 211 hotline to help families, while Gov.
