COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On Friday, more than 40 children and teens found forever homes in state courtrooms on Connecticut Adoption Day — state officials said that the adoptions show how adoptive parents help give kids a stable future as over 1,000 youths have reached permanency this year.  FOX61
  • On Saturday, a local non-profit in Farmington packed 500 Thanksgiving meal boxes with turkey, stuffing, and all the trimmings—continuing its 17-year effort to help families in need. More than 40 volunteers worked from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. to prepare the boxes, which will be delivered to community service groups across Connecticut—ensuring every family has a meal for the holiday.  WFSB-TV

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Hartford HealthCare plans to acquire Manchester Memorial and Rockville General, two financially troubled hospitals, and is set to begin transition efforts once state approval is secured — including sending offer letters to about 1,300 employees and preparing equipment upgrades for a smooth integration after the planned closing on Dec. 31. The expedited approval process aims to cut review time and ensure patient safety as the system works to restore local trust.  Connecticut Post

CULTURE NEWS

  • Real Art Ways, a long-standing Hartford arts center in Parkville, is set to expand next year with new movie theaters, a cafe, performing arts areas and extra space for educational programs. Construction will start in February — costing roughly 7 million dollars mostly from donations — and is expected to take a year, increasing the venue’s size by 50%.  WTIC

  • More than 300 girls and women from across Connecticut attended the Women in Leadership Conference in Cromwell where leading figures in athletics shared their success stories and encouraged self-belief. The speakers also explained how building strong relationships and seizing new opportunities can help achieve future goals.  WFSB-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Friday, TSA announced that it is considering charging an $18 fee at Bradley International Airport for travelers arriving without a Real ID or passport, a measure intended to help fund its identity verification program. Some passengers have expressed mixed opinions about the proposal + the agency has not yet set an implementation date.  WFSB-TV

SPORTS NEWS

  • Yesterday, Hall came from behind to beat Conard 35-18 in their annual West Hartford rivalry game, winning its fifth straight Mayor’s Cup as quarterback Noah Kabakoff stepped in after an injury—Quinn O’Neill made a key one-handed catch that helped spark the comeback.  We-Ha
  • Joe Fagnano threw three touchdown passes and Cam Edwards scored two rushing touchdowns, including one with 26 seconds left, to help UConn beat Florida Atlantic 48-45 on Saturday. Fagnano passed for 446 yards and Edwards ran for 101 yards + the win marked UConn’s first back-to-back nine-win season under coach Jim Mora.  NBC Connecticut
  • UConn beat Florida Atlantic 48—45 on Saturday as Cam Edwards scored the winning touchdown with 28 seconds left to give the Huskies their first streak of nine wins in a row. Bowl bids will be announced December 7—this win is a key moment for the team.  WFSB-TV
  • UConn beat Michigan 72-69 in the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Women’s Showcase on Friday night in Uncasville; Azzi Fudd scored 31 points while Sarah Strong added 16 points (20 rebounds) as Michigan rallied in the final minute before the Huskies held on for the win.  NBC Connecticut
  • After finishing an 11-4-4 season, UConn earned the 13th overall seed in the NCAA Tournament and a first round bye— the Huskies will host Cornell today in Storrs as they return to the tournament for the first time since 2018.  FOX61
  • On Saturday, November 22, Windsor High defeated Bloomfield 50 to 7 at Jack O’Brien Stadium as AJ Robinson threw six touchdown passes and Charlie Lewis intercepted three passes—boosting the Warriors’ momentum heading into their home quarterfinal game in the state playoffs.  Connecticut Post
