  • On Monday, the Manchester Road Race committee gave a $12,000 check to the Manchester Area Conference of Churches to help with holiday needs—this money will support food, housing, utilities and clothing for those in need. The race is set for Thanksgiving Day at 10 a.m., and organizers hope to raise $100,000 for local charities.  FOX61
  • Habitat for Humanity built ten clean energy homes in East Hartford for first-time homeowners who meet income limits and take homebuyer plus financial literacy courses. East Hartford Mayor Connor Martin said the Burnside Hope development turned a blighted area into a productive space—plans for two more Habitat projects are in the works.  Connecticut Public

  • SNAP benefits were restored over the weekend and local businesses saw a surge of shoppers as families returned to grocery stores for food.   • Broadway star Jared Dixon returned to Connecticut Monday to lead a masterclass at Classical Magnet School in Hartford for over 60 students, teaching singing, dancing and audition tips while answering questions about his Broadway journey.   • University of Connecticut researchers are investigating the history of Mansfield Training School, a facility that once housed disabled people and closed over 30 years ago. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Connecticut Airport Authority officials said Bradley International Airport canceled 14 flights since Friday due to FAA air traffic reductions—officials noted that not all delays were from these cuts as weather, maintenance and crew issues may have also played a role.  WTNH News 8

  • Local organizers will host the 11th Annual Best of West Hartford on Nov. 17 at the Back Nine Tavern at Stanley Golf Course + the event will feature a dance contest called Dancing with WeHa Stars, food, and an auction for benches painted by local artists + guests can network and enjoy the evening.  We-Ha

  • The UConn men's basketball team moved up one spot to No. 3 in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll after winning two games by large margins — they will face ranked opponents this weekend.  Connecticut Post
  • The latest GametimeCT Top 10 poll showed a big shakeup—four teams lost spots as Cheshire joined the ranking with a 14-7 win over Sheehan.   • UConn remains No. 1 in the AP Top 25 women's basketball poll as Baylor and Southern California move into the top 10 after strong season openers while UConn, South Carolina, UCLA and Texas hold the top four.
