HEALTH NEWS

  • A state task force found that Whiting Forensic Hospital needs a new building to improve patient safety and care. Governor Lamont set aside $50M for design costs, but officials now will study a less expensive option as the current plan for a 246-bed facility costs $700M—seeking a better use of state funds.  CT Mirror
  • Subsidies that lower health premium costs under the ACA will expire December 31st — if Congress does not act, many Access Health CT members will face higher premiums in 2026 with some predicted to see an average increase of about $2,380 annually. Enrollment for next year is open and nearly 32,000 Connecticut residents risk losing all financial assistance while another 111,000 will see reduced help.  CT Mirror
