- ➤ A Simsbury man won $1 million in a recent Powerball drawing when he bought a quick pick ticket at Pride on Hopmeadow Street on August 30. He celebrated his win on the night before his 60th birthday and said the win was pure luck — he is not yet sure how to spend the money. NBC Connecticut

- ➤ Connecticut urgent crisis centers now provide walk-in emergency mental health treatment for children as an alternative to hospital emergency rooms. In Hartford, The Village for Families and Children is open weekdays from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. and weekends from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. — while funding challenges and low insurance reimbursements have raised concerns over long-term support. - ➤ Thousands of people gathered for the Susan G. Komen More Than Pink Walk on Sunday morning at Bushnell Park in Hartford to raise over $300,000 for breast cancer research and support. Survivors and patients united to honor loved ones and inspire hope. WFSB-TV
