- ➤ PeoplesBank Arena in Hartford reopened after a $145 million makeover and now offers new food choices like artisanal cheese, smash burgers, and Soul Bowls in the main concourse and premium club — with five vendors including local restaurants. - ➤ Stop & Shop will announce today at 11 a.m. at Central Connecticut State University Student Center that it is donating $200,000 to Connecticut State Colleges to fight food insecurity; volunteers will assemble 1,000 care packages for four campuses. WFSB-TV
- ➤ Farmington High School hosted the state’s first Student Empowerment Day on Monday — over 900 students joined workshops and panels that taught leadership and self-worth — organized by the Connecticut Association of Schools. WTNH News 8
- ➤ Connecticut schools are facing a student mental health crisis as pandemic relief funds ended and staffing cuts left many schools with too few mental health professionals—state education officials say more funding is needed to support new hires. - ➤ The Connecticut Department of Transportation installed its 200th wrong-way detection system on state highways on Oct 20, which flashed bright lights and sent alerts when drivers entered the freeway incorrectly—since December 2023 the system has corrected about 700 wrong-way entries, with plans to add up to 211 systems statewide. - ➤ Connecticut Attorney General William Tong filed an amicus brief in the First Circuit—joining 19 states and the District of Columbia to oppose the Defund Provision that would block Medicaid funding for Planned Parenthood. The provision would cut essential health services like cancer screenings and contraception, thereby affecting over 1.1 million patients, including 25,000 in Connecticut—while the case remains under review in Massachusetts. - ➤ Hartford Healthcare's subsidiary ECHN Holdings won the bid to buy Manchester Memorial Hospital and Rockville General Hospital from Prospect Medical Holdings, which filed for bankruptcy in January. The sale is set at $86.1 million and a hearing to approve the deal is scheduled for Friday at 10:30 a.m. FOX61
- ➤ Nat’s Nuts of Rochester recalled 600 bags of cinnamon whiskey pecans sold in stores in Connecticut and eight other states on Monday after an employee found cashews in a bag—no illnesses were reported. WTNH News 8

- ➤ Connecticut native Zach Allen contributed a key sack on Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart in the fourth quarter of the game in which the Broncos rallied from a 19-0 deficit to complete their largest comeback in franchise history. - ➤ Joe Fagnano threw for a career-high 362 yards and 4 touchdowns and also ran for a 2-yard score as UConn beat Boston College 38—23 last Saturday in Chestnut Hill.
