- ➤ Parents in Cromwell and Middletown are unsure if school buses will run today as union officials and DAATCO negotiate with 110 bus drivers who have worked under an expired contract since July—if drivers do not approve the final offer over the weekend, picketing will begin at 5 a.m. for better pay and benefits. - ➤ State officials are preparing to step in if the federal government shutdown continues—House leader Vincent Candelora said temporary funding from the current budget will cover essential services and help fill vacancies on the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority.
