  • On Sunday, thousands gathered in Hartford for the 61st annual Puerto Rican Parade — a celebration of local heritage.  FOX61
  • At Wickham Park, Civil War reenactors brought history to life with live displays that taught hundreds about America's past divisions—attendees witnessed lessons on historical conflict.  FOX61

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Green energy activists gathered at Central Connecticut State University on Sunday for the state's largest Sun Day celebration in New Britain — the event featured speakers, music, art and exhibits on electric vehicles and solar power technology. Organizers said they plan to double Connecticut’s 100000 solar installations in the future.  WTNH News 8

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Dozens of new laws signed by Gov. Ned Lamont will take effect Oct. 1 and include measures that allow Sunday hunting on private land with permission, ban first-cousin marriage, limit handcuffing of pre-adjudicated juveniles, increase fines for reckless driving, require towing companies to give notice and accept card payments, protect CT Lottery winners’ privacy, delegate pistol permit duties in small towns, and bar new state purchases of foreign-made drones. The bills received strong bipartisan support in the state House and Senate.  CT News Junkie

SPORTS NEWS

  • Northwest Catholic High School senior Isabella Jubrey from West Hartford was nominated by her coaches for USA Football’s Heart of a Giant Award — an honor presented by the Hospital for Special Surgery and the New York Giants. Voting is open until Oct. 5 and the nominee with the most votes will receive a $1,000 equipment grant for her school’s football program.  We-Ha
  • Hartford Athletic requested that the United Soccer League investigate a Pittsburgh player who allegedly used racially offensive language during an abandoned match at Trinity Health Stadium Saturday evening. Pittsburgh Riverhounds denied the claim—saying they did not use such language and pledging full cooperation with the investigation.  FOX61
  • Cam Edwards ran for 194 yards and two touchdowns while Skyler Bell had 103 yards and one touchdown as UConn beat Ball State 31—25 on Saturday. Edwards broke his record with a new best in rushing and a 67 yard run extended UConn's lead while Lee Molette III made his first interception to seal the win.  NBC Connecticut
  • West Hartford's Conard High School girls swimming and diving team got a 97-87 win over Glastonbury on Tuesday and are now 4-0 — they got off to a strong 10-4 start. The team will go to Newington Friday for their first CCC West meet this season.  We-Ha
  • Week two of high school football featured standout plays by Conrad, Windsor and Middletown—Conrad achieved its first win using a double-pass trick play for a touchdown in a 42—37 game, Windsor improved to 2—0 with a deep pass in a rivalry contest, and Middletown's defense converted a fumble into a 50-yard touchdown run.  WFSB-TV
