- ➤ On Sunday, nearly 500 truck companies and independent drivers joined the 26th annual Wishes on Wheels event at Rentschler Field in East Hartford to support Make-A-Wish Connecticut. The event raised funds—$2.3 million since its start—to grant wishes for local kids, including one whose travel trailer wish was fulfilled. NBC Connecticut

- ➤ A private aircraft made an unplanned landing on Sunday afternoon at Hartford-Brainard Airport after reporting an in-flight issue—officials said no one was injured. WTNH News 8

- ➤ Hartford detective Bobby Garten, fatally injured in September 2023 when a driver fled during a traffic stop, was honored on Sunday in Manchester at a fundraiser at Elicit Brewing Company—attendees supported his memorial fund that raised nearly $15,000 in its first year. WTNH News 8

- ➤ The West Hartford Symphony Orchestra will kick off its season on Sept. 21 at 3 p.m. at Town Hall with a cabaret-style chamber music event that blends Romanian and Czech classics, art, food and wine — a fundraiser featuring an art auction to support the orchestra. - ➤ Arcy is painting a 75-foot mural—made entirely with spray paint—just a block from Bushnell Park to celebrate 32 years of the Eversource Hartford Marathon. The expansive artwork will be visible along the race routes at mile 8 of the half marathon and mile 26 of the full marathon. WFSB-TV

- ➤ On Sept 14, the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving announced a $6 million investment in Hartford-area arts and culture groups to support local institutions and end the idea of starving artists — the foundation said $4 million will go to 48 organizations including the Wadsworth Atheneum, Real Art Ways, and Hartford Stage, with additional funds for artist residencies and smaller nonprofits to drive future growth. - ➤ Connecticut will enforce new rules from October 1 to boost safety for e-scooters, e-bikes and e-skateboards — non-pedal e-scooters with motors over 750 watts need a driver’s license, fast e-bikes must be registered, and e-skateboards are capped at 20 mph; riders under 18 must wear helmets. Parents are urged to monitor usage to help keep riders and drivers safe. CT Mirror
- ➤ State officials warned that federal cuts to work requirements for SNAP and Medicaid will likely leave hundreds of thousands of Connecticut residents without food assistance and health insurance. The work rules will take effect Jan 1 while changes to Medicaid for noncitizens will begin Oct 1, which will remove coverage for refugees, asylum recipients, and other vulnerable groups. - ➤ After a tough season, the Connecticut Sun rebuilt with a young core of rookies and a new coach, Rachid Meziane, who helped the team learn from early losses. The team finished without a playoff spot as GM Morgan Tuck and state officials worked to keep the franchise in Connecticut amid plans that may move the team in the future. Connecticut Post
- ➤ On Friday, former UConn star Paige Bueckers was named the AP’s WNBA Rookie of the Year after averaging more than 19 points and five assists per game for the Dallas Wings—who finished tied for the worst record this season. She also earned AP all-WNBA second team honors. WFSB-TV
