EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ State Commissioner Beth Bye announced Thursday that the new Early Childhood Education Endowment added 500–600 child care slots in cities including West Hartford, Bridgeport, and Derby. Providers will be able to apply for contracts as an additional 1,000 spaces will be available in January to grow overall capacity to 16,000 slots by 2030. Connecticut Post
- ➤ State education officials reported that about 25 Connecticut school districts met the performance target of 75 in English, math, and science for the 2024 to 2025 school year, with districts in wealthier areas scoring above 80 while urban districts, including Hartford, scored below 50. The report shows that even though many groups improved, the gap between students with and without disabilities remains wide—raising concerns among local educators. Connecticut Post
