- ➤ Neighbors in West Hartford found their 'We Stand with Israel' yard signs vandalized and thrown into storm drains over Labor Day weekend — one sign was fished out with garden shears while police investigate vandalism from 15-20 homes as Mayor Cantor denounced the hateful act. FOX61
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ A survey by the Connecticut Business and Industry Association found that many businesses reported growing uncertainty from new policy—rising costs and worker shortages challenged them as shared at a conference on September 3. - ➤ Police canines from Connecticut State Police, Hartford and Rhode Island are testing their arson detection skills this week near the Connecticut Fire Academy in Windsor Locks as firefighters conduct a live burn to provide a real-world scenario for evidence collection. The dogs search for traces of accelerants to determine if ignitable liquids were used at fire scenes—helping investigators build their cases. WTNH News 8
- ➤ Connecticut’s Trust Act amendments will take effect in October and let people sue police departments that share information with ICE when they break the law. The law now lets officers work with ICE on a select list of serious crimes — sexual assault, burglary with a firearm and child injury — and adds state and municipal workers to its rules. - ➤ Gov. Ned Lamont announced Wednesday that Connecticut's minimum wage will rise to $16.94 per hour on Jan. 1—making it the second-highest in the nation, while Lt. Gov. Susan Bysiewicz said the change will benefit over 160,000 workers, mostly women and people of color. Connecticut Post
