- ➤ East Hartford opened a new town-run food pantry at the Cultural Community Center this month to meet rising food needs—staff served about 50 people so far and plan to operate it three days a month. Residents 18 and older can shop for free while the town welcomes donations and volunteer help at the Youth & Social Services Division office at 50 Chapman Place. FOX61

- ➤ A Hartford man, Peter Logan, was sentenced to 4 years in prison after pleading guilty to first-degree manslaughter for fatally stabbing Jason Williamson on April 25, 2024 when he intervened in a domestic violence incident at Keney Park — he will serve 3 years of probation after his release. - ➤ Two Naugatuck Walmart employees (Shelly Alam, 45, and Robert Mclaughlin, 39, from Waterbury) were arrested on Aug. 27 for assaulting a customer with a disability when Alam reportedly ridiculed the customer and Mclaughlin punched the customer in the head, and both were released on a $5,000 bond with a court date on Sept. 24. - ➤ A Berlin couple recouped over $500 after they discovered that the E-Z Pass system mistakenly charged tolls meant for state Rep. Corey Paris because their vehicle’s plate shared a number with his legislative plate — the error also affected toll records from the Holland Tunnel and Boston area and may lead to further investigation.
