ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Erica Connor lost three daughters and her grandson in a deadly Hartford home fire one week ago and suffered third-degree burns while trying to rescue her family from a rapidly spreading blaze—investigators are examining a suspected porch ignition.  WFSB-TV

CRIME NEWS

  • Yesterday, the FBI and local law enforcement ended a three-week sweep called Operation No Escape by arresting 84 violent criminals, including nine linked to Hartford warrants — Bridgeport police reported five arrests as part of a broader summer effort to curb violent crime. State and local agencies said they will continue working together to keep the area safe.  NBC Connecticut

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Hartford Public Schools started the year with new superintendent Dr. Andraé Townsel who aims to boost student learning and safety; the district will open a renovated Bulkeley High School later this school year—equipped with interactive smart boards and modern learning spaces to support students.  WFSB-TV
  • Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School in Hartford welcomed students with cheers, high-fives and music to start the school year yesterday. Calling All Brothers (a group mentoring youth for 10 years) ensured every student felt seen and valued despite local challenges.  NBC Connecticut

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Hartford dropped strict parking rules in 2016 and this sparked a boom in new homes and small businesses downtown—helping create a more walkable center.   • Lt. Gov. Susan Bysiewicz said she and Gov.
