- ➤ Family members and community gathered to say final goodbyes to Plainville firefighter Ray Moreau, 60, who died last Sunday after suffering injuries while fighting a fire on Maria Road. The funeral service took place at 10 a.m. Saturday at Central Connecticut State University’s Welte Hall (1615 Stanley St.) and a procession followed to the cemetery (200 South End Road, Southington). REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ Bridgeport and Hartford approved record-high housing permits in 2024 with Bridgeport reaching 485 units and Hartford hitting 468 units — the highest totals since 1990 — while state approvals dropped from 8,357 permits in 2023. Governor Lamont vetoed a bill aimed at easing approvals and offered alternative language ahead of a special legislative session in September, and construction continued on projects like The August at Steelpointe Harbor.
