CRIME NEWS
- ➤ South Windsor police arrested East Hartford man Paul Lawrence on third-degree assault and second-degree breach of peace charges from a June domestic violence incident and an attempted attack on a gas station clerk—he turned himself in on Tuesday, was released on a $5,000 bond, and will appear in Manchester Superior Court on Wednesday. - ➤ After officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert just before 7 p.m. on April 1 and found the unresponsive victim Michael Coleman on Vine Street in Hartford, police arrested 38-year-old Denton Young from Windsor Locks—he is held on a $2 million bond for his alleged role in the murder. - ➤ Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents detained Afghan interpreter Zia outside a USCIS center in East Hartford as he went to have his biometrics taken for a green card; he entered on approved humanitarian parole and had no criminal history. A judge has stayed his removal amid an investigation of serious criminal allegations, and his attorney said Zia — who is in ICE custody — fears he may be sent back to Afghanistan. FOX61

- ➤ Connecticut’s Access Health CT will face federal changes that cut enhanced premium tax credits and limit coverage eligibility for certain immigrants, with new rules affecting over 135,000 residents and some measures taking effect as early as August 25.
