- ➤ On Tuesday afternoon, a boater rescued another boater and a dog when a small boat overturned in the Connecticut River near Ferry Park in Rocky Hill—firefighters, police and EMS responded to secure the boat and check the rescued individual. NBC Connecticut

- ➤ Police used surveillance video & DNA tests to track down Jhaki Gunter, a 24-year-old from New Britain charged with evading responsibility with death and reckless driving after a speeding sedan struck bicyclist Rosevelt Vann Jr. on Albany Avenue in October & he is set to appear in Superior Court on Aug. 5. - ➤ The Connecticut Board of Nursing Examiners suspended the licenses of three nurses — Khadine Shields of Waterbury, Tynesha Pridgen of Hartford, and Sheryl Charlton — on July 16th for allegedly using fraudulent nursing degrees from a Florida school involved in Operation Nightingale as part of an investigation into 69 similar cases, and they will not work until a hearing takes place. - ➤ A man in his 20s was shot in Hartford on Tuesday night near Capitol Avenue and Orange Street when officers responded to a gunfire alert at just after 10:30 p.m. — hospital reports confirmed his critical condition — and police are investigating the shooting. NBC Connecticut
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ State lawmakers approved up to $2 million to help encourage new business leases around PeoplesBank Arena in downtown Hartford, with each business or landlord required to match the funds. The program will launch this fall—aiming to fill empty storefronts and boost dining and entertainment options. FOX61
