CRIME NEWS
- ➤ One person was injured in a stabbing overnight in East Hartford — officers responded at 1:30 a.m. near Judson Avenue and took two suspects into custody — and the victim is receiving treatment at a nearby hospital. WFSB-TV
- ➤ Police said officers responded early Tuesday on Judson Avenue in East Hartford to a family violence incident where a man stabbed another in the abdomen - the victim received treatment by EMS and is now in stable condition while the suspect faces a charge of first-degree assault. CT Insider
- ➤ A man in his twenties is in critical condition at a local hospital after he was shot Tuesday night on Capitol Avenue and Orange Street — police responded after receiving a ShotSpotter alert. WTNH News 8

- ➤ Attorney General William Tong said Connecticut sued Washington over $53 million in frozen school funds meant for key programs (including after-school and summer support) and joined a 25-state group challenging $7 billion in blocked money (which serves 1.4 million children and teens). - ➤ Gov. Ned Lamont signed a law making it easier to convert vacant offices, hotels, and retail spaces into apartments. Under the law taking effect on Oct. 1, municipalities must wait three years before applying new tax values — the law does not cover industrial properties — and zoning boards have 65 days, with an option for an extra 65 days, to decide on applications. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Connecticut health centers are facing uncertainty after the Department of Health and Human Services banned federal funding for undocumented residents—staff are reporting increased cancellations and a shift toward telehealth while awaiting further guidance. The centers, which serve 440,000 people including up to 60,000 undocumented patients, are continuing care for all residents—officials warn that the change could lead to sicker patients and greater emergency costs. - ➤ Connecticut lawmakers passed legislation that will require health insurance plans to cover biomarker tests—used for cancer and neurological diagnoses—starting January 1, 2026.
