- ➤ Last Saturday evening, Hartford Bonanza returned to Bushnell Park and drew thousands of locals who enjoyed more than 50 vendors, 20 food trucks, and community group activities—celebrating independence with diverse food and cultural offerings. The festival also featured a Home in Hartford Expo, a historic carousel ride, and ended with one of the largest fireworks displays in the region. FOX61

- ➤ A car fire turned into a structure fire at 15 Oakland Avenue on Friday night in East Hartford and displaced 10 people — the American Red Cross is assisting 5 children and 5 adults with no injuries reported. WTNH News 8

- ➤ A man who arranged a date through a dating app was robbed at knifepoint on Farmington Avenue at 9:40 p.m. Friday night when four to five armed men stole his cellphone, wallet, key fob and vehicle—police said a similar robbery on June 26 is under investigation. WTNH News 8

- ➤ On July 5, Gov. Lamont reappointed Marissa Gillett to lead the state's top utility regulator amid lawsuits alleging she abused her power—State Reps. Tom O’Dea and Matt Blumenthal discussed her appointment and other matters including legislative session issues and the deployment of active-duty Marines to Los Angeles. News 12 Connecticut
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ American Red Cross officials warned that hospitals fear a blood shortage in the tri-state area will affect care as fewer donors, especially those with Type O blood, are coming in—many of whom are away on summer vacations. The agency has partnered with Goodr to give away sunglasses until July 14—hoping to boost donations before the supply runs dangerously low. News 12 Connecticut
