  • On June 8, local nonprofits received part of a $237,000 grant from the Hartford Foundation's James E. Blair Fund for the Visually Impaired—CRIS Radio in Windsor received $30,000 to cover operating costs and run its kids' clubs while UR Community Cares in Manchester received $15,000 to expand its vision resources program.  CT Insider
  • On June 7 and 8, 2025, thousands of residents attended West Hartford's 38th annual Celebrate! festival, which featured music, games, food, rides, and community booths. More than 150 arts and crafts vendors and 27 food stands offered a range of attractions — including CPR training at the fire department booth and a dunk tank that raised donations for a local food pantry.  We-Ha

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Ned Lamont spoke on NBC Connecticut about wrapping up the legislative session and explained that extra funds will help support education, childcare, and special needs while a reserve fund is kept to protect against possible Medicaid cuts from Washington—he said he is also weighing his reelection plans as the state works to improve housing and transport.
