- ➤ Westfarms mall is adding five new stores to boost its line-up—Windsor opened at the end of March, and Caffe Arrone opened in April while Jamba Juice, Zumiez and gorjana will open this summer; Kay Jewelers renovated its space and American Eagle is upgrading its store. Connecticut Post
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The House passed a bill that limits online gambling funding and bans inducement ads by prohibiting credit card use and requiring permission for joint card charges — the measure now moves to the Senate with its fate remaining uncertain as the legislative session nears its end. CT News Junkie
- ➤ The state Senate passed HB 7231 with a 32—4 vote that allows hunting on Sundays on private lands under certain conditions—removing one of Connecticut’s last blue laws—and it is headed to Gov. Ned Lamont’s desk for final approval. CT News Junkie
- ➤ Gov. Ned Lamont asked lawmakers to fix a bill that would remove the State Elections Enforcement Commission’s power to appoint its director in a speech on February 5—warning that the bill might face a veto if not changed. Lawmakers said they would add a public hearing to review the process and keep the commission independent. Connecticut Post

- ➤ Conard High School girls lacrosse beat Trumbull 17-1 on Tuesday in the CIAC Class LL tournament, with senior captain Nicole Gorman scoring her 200th goal and captain Olivia Hole recording her 300th assist. The undefeated Red Wolves will face Ridgefield in the quarterfinals on Friday — the team credited strong teamwork during the win — as they prepare for the next round. We-Ha
- ➤ Connecticut's Special Olympics summer games started yesterday with a law enforcement torch run where officers carried the Flame of Hope to promote inclusion. A torch run continues today and will run again Friday at 6:30 p.m. during the opening ceremony at Southern Connecticut State University + some athletes will also carry the torch. WTNH News 8
