- ➤ Former Blue Hills Civic Association employees and community organizers are pushing to restore summer jobs for Hartford youth after a cybersecurity breach led to layoffs and uncertain futures for hundreds of kids. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A Hartford man faces federal drug charges after police and FBI investigations led to search warrants on Amity Street and Florence Street on Thursday — authorities seized nine guns, 1,368 grams of fentanyl, 572 grams of cocaine, 15 pounds of marijuana, and other drug materials in an alleged large-scale operation. - ➤ Visitors can experience the immersive art exhibit Beyond Van Gogh & Beyond Monet at the CT Convention Center in Hartford, where interactive displays let them step into famous paintings by Van Gogh and Monet. The exhibit will run through June 29. News 12 Connecticut
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ On May 29, the Equal Protection Project filed a federal civil rights complaint against UConn, alleging that four minority-focused scholarships violate civil rights laws by giving preference to underrepresented students—UConn has paused some scholarship funds while reviewing its policies. - ➤ The CT House passed a bill that increases oversight of private special education providers and adds $30 million per year in 2026 and 2027 to help districts build in-house programs—measures that include rate-setting and random audits to control rising costs. - ➤ Connecticut’s summer EBT program, known federally as SUN Bucks, gives eligible families $120 for each child during the months when school meals are not available.
