EDUCATION NEWS

  • Hartford Public Schools face an $89M deficit for fiscal 2026 and 2027, and officials are considering joining a state oversight program (to access city funds and support long-term changes) with a vote scheduled by the end of June.  FOX61
  • Natalie Braswell has been named interim chancellor of the state colleges and universities system as officials launch a national search for a new leader. She (former state comptroller and Gov.   • Gov. Lamont has signed a law that lets residents install cameras in assisted living facilities & care homes to monitor safety after reports of mistreatment. The law, which requires written consent from roommates and resident-borne costs, will take effect Oct. 1.  Connecticut Public

  • Zillow ranked Hartford as the hottest housing market in its 2026 analysis. The report notes typical home values near $381,760, 66% selling above asking price, and a forecasted 3.9% increase, so buyers may face bidding wars + sellers may need flexibility.  WTNH News 8
