- ➤ Connecticut lawmakers and Gov. Lamont are discussing a child tax credit that would provide low- and middle-income families $150 per child up to $450 per household and cost about $83 million a year, with the credit set to start with 2026 earnings—if budget talks allow—while plans for a gradual phase-in are under review. - ➤ Connecticut will offer its second year of SUN Bucks to eligible families so they can buy food during the summer when school meals are unavailable, with nearly 300,000 children expected to benefit and 97% of households automatically enrolled if they already receive assistance. Department of Social Services officials say funds worth $120 per child will be added to EBT cards by early July—while enrollment remains open for other low-income households and federal tax debates could affect future funding.
