- ➤ Archbishop Henry J. Mansell died Tuesday morning at Monsignor Bojnowski Manor in New Britain, as confirmed by the Archdiocese of Hartford. He was 88 and had served as the city’s fourth archbishop since 2003 until his retirement in 2013, and funeral details will be shared soon. NBC Connecticut

- ➤ Hartford Public Schools face a $74.5 million budgeting gap for next year after cutting $70 million and 400 positions, and officials are asking the state and city for funds. The board will present its budget to City Council Wednesday night. WFSB-TV
- ➤ The University of Hartford’s College of Engineering, Technology, and Architecture received a $20,000 grant from the Frank N. Piasecki Foundation to join the national DARPA Lift Challenge yesterday. Eight students, led by assistant professor Dongbin Kim, will design drone systems to lift heavier loads. - ➤ Connecticut officials urged drivers to slow down and focus in work zones during National Work Zone Awareness week in Farmington, where they honored workers lost on the job. CTDOT said work zone speed cameras will start issuing tickets in June after a warning period — lawmakers are considering tougher penalties for unsafe driving. NBC Connecticut
- ➤ Governor Lamont met with Brookfield First Selectman Steve Dunn on Monday at the Capitol to discuss a proposal to add two gas compressors to the Iroquois pipeline (DEEP is reviewing air permits) as critics worry about air quality. - ➤ Amtrak said Tuesday that it would not close Connecticut’s shoreline rail bridges during the 2026 World Cup after concerns emerged from boaters and marine businesses (it is exploring options to move travelers safely along the Northeast Corridor in coordination with the Coast Guard). - ➤ A new study shows that Connecticut doctors now sue patients for unpaid medical bills more than hospitals, with 80% of cases coming from provider offices since 2019. The state court system clearly tags these cases, making it easier to see how small debts are turned into legal actions. CT Mirror
