- ➤ Ellington firefighters freed a horse that fell through a damaged trail bridge along the Hockanum River trail behind the YMCA on Pinney Street Saturday afternoon (one person was evaluated for a leg injury). FOX61
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Hartford hosted a free spring break empowerment camp for students ages 8-15 at Arroyo Community Center and Parker Memorial Community Center; a summer camp will run from July 6 to Aug. 14 with registration opening May 1. Officials said space is limited. FOX61
- ➤ School leaders gathered at the state Capitol to call for updates to the education funding formula (unchanged since 2013). They urge state officials to boost funding as the legislative session nears its end. WFSB-TV

- ➤ Plug-in solar panels that work with a battery to power key appliances are gaining support in New England for being low cost and easy to use. - ➤ A West Hartford couple is set to run in the Boston Marathon to raise funds for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, aiming to finish under four and a half hours while their fundraising efforts have already exceeded $35,000 this year (and $150,000 overall) to support cancer research.
