  • The North Hartford Public Safety Coalition will host the North Hartford Public Safety Summit at Phillips Health Center on Main Street in Hartford on Thursday, Apr. 16 from 5:30 to 8 p.m.—community leaders, clergy and residents will join panels and breakout sessions to shape a summer 2026 Community Safety Plan.  FOX61

  • Connecticut public libraries saw their registered borrowers increase for the first time in five years, with over 1 million cardholders and 14.3 million visits recorded in fiscal year 2025. Libraries are also easing late fees, with fee-free branches growing from 31 in 2020 to 133 in 2025.  CT Mirror
  • On April 10, four UHart physics majors and one graduate student visited UConn labs where they toured five research groups in experimental and theoretical physics and spoke with faculty about advanced research methods, connecting classroom lessons with future graduate study.  University of Hartford

  • State and local officials are urging federal agents to release 19-year-old Rihan—a Cheshire High School senior detained in Plymouth, Mass—after his family entered legally on humanitarian parole. His immigration attorney filed a habeas corpus petition Monday while Gov. Lamont highlighted his academic promise.  FOX61
  • Late state Rep. Quentin 'Q' Williams was honored with a Freedom Trail designation in Middletown in late March at his home church, Cross Street AME Zion Church, where his family received a commemorative plaque for his gravesite at Indian Hill Cemetery to reflect his legacy as the first Black legislator.  Connecticut Public
