  • On Wednesday, more than 100 students joined state leaders and agriculture veterans at the Capitol for Ag Day to celebrate Connecticut's $4 billion agriculture industry—Long Table Farm owner Baylee Drown was named 2026 Young Farmer of the Year, and Ag will host Maple Weekend this Saturday and Sunday.  FOX61

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Connecticut residents face higher winter heating bills as oil prices have risen above $5 per gallon due to conflict in Iran and natural gas use grew 30 percent from colder weather. Norwich Public Utilities said current bills reflect last month’s energy use while rates remain fixed.  WFSB-TV

  • The University of Hartford will host its 2026 Deeds Symposium featuring economist Peter Boettke discussing 'AI and Our Economic Future' Tuesday, Apr. 14 at 5:30 p.m. in Wilde Auditorium (Harry Jack Gray Center, 200 Bloomfield Ave, West Hartford). The event is free.  University of Hartford
  • State lawmakers and education advocates support a bill to offer free school breakfast for all and free lunch for qualifying students.
