  • A new musical that explores Ella Grasso’s role during the 1965 Constitutional Convention will be performed at the Connecticut State Capitol in Hartford on Friday, March 6, at 2 p.m. Registration for the free event is available through the Connecticut League of Women Voters.  Connecticut Public
  • Connecticut leaders held a ceremony at the state capitol in Hartford on March 4 to honor the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion (the only all-Black, all-female unit from WWII that included 10 from Connecticut), as descendants like Lisa Boone learned their family history.  Connecticut Public

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Amid double-digit oil price increases triggered by a conflict in Iran, low-income families in Hartford face higher home energy costs — Generation Power CT is accepting fuel assistance applications until Mar. 10 to support about 2,000 households.  CT Mirror
  • The Stanley Black & Decker Myrtle Street plant in New Britain is expected to close within two months, prompting city officials to work with the Connecticut Department of Labor to find new jobs for affected workers. Mayor Sanchez said discussions about attracting a new manufacturer to the site remain underway.  FOX61

EDUCATION NEWS

  • West Hartford Public Schools proposed a $228M budget for the 2026-27 school year with a 6.6% increase that covers salaries, medical costs, and transportation. The Board will hold workshops and a public hearing on March 26 at Town Hall Room 314 to gather community input.  We-Ha
  • High school students rallied at the Capitol on Wednesday to urge lawmakers to update the state's Education Cost Sharing formula. The proposed bills aim to raise the current per-student funding from $11,525 to better reflect modern costs — an effort supported by teachers, administrators, and local leaders.  CT Mirror
