  • Work is underway to transform Bridgeport’s former Mount Trashmore into an agricultural and wellness campus later this year in honor of the late Jesse Jackson’s legacy.   • Connecticut enacted a new law on Jan. 1 that prevents generic drug prices from rising faster than inflation & fines companies who break the rule. Gov. Lamont and Sen. Lesser said the law is estimated to save state residents $10.5 million on 430 drugs.  WFSB-TV

  • Rising temperatures prompt safety reminders as ice fishing season continues in Middletown. Officials urge anglers to check ice thickness, tell someone their plans, and carry a safety kit with a life jacket, rope, and ice picks to be prepared for emergencies.  WFSB-TV

  • UConn men’s basketball moved to No.5 in the AP Poll after wins over Butler and Georgetown, though voters differ (Seth Davis ranked the Huskies at No.11 while Jon Rothstein rated them near consensus No.2).  Connecticut Post
  • UConn women's basketball clinched its sixth straight Big East regular season title with an 83-69 win over Villanova on Tuesday, Feb. 18. The win extended UConn's 44-game win streak and secured the team a No. 1 seed in the upcoming tournament.  Connecticut Post
  • CT's Mac Forehand won silver in the Winter Olympics big air event on Tuesday, Feb. 18. He finished 2.25 points behind Norway's Tormod Frostad, scoring 193.25 points as he said he was happy to walk away safe.  Connecticut Public
  • Former UConn standout Emeka Okafor had his number retired at halftime on Feb. 18 at Gampel Pavilion — he was honored by his family, coaches, and fans for his historic legacy as a top student-athlete.  Connecticut Post
  • The UConn men’s basketball team hosted Creighton at Gampel Pavilion on Wednesday night and retired Emeka Okafor’s number 50 at halftime. They will travel to Philly for a road game against Villanova with tip off at 5:30 p.m.  WFSB-TV
