COMMUNITY NEWS

  • CT LIVE broadcasts a Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Day celebration from The Wadsworth. The event will feature community discussions and cultural programming to honor King’s legacy.  NBC Connecticut
  • AARP Connecticut announced that ten Connecticut communities ranked highly for older residents based on factors such as housing, transportation, health, and community engagement, with Hartford scoring 57 for its transit options but needing housing improvements. BUSINESS NEWS

  • The LEGO Group will close its Enfield offices by the end of 2026 and open a new warehouse in Windsor Locks with a 10-year lease (hosting 20 workers beginning in the second half of 2026). The two Connecticut LEGO stores will continue operating.  Connecticut Post

CULTURE NEWS

  • Advocates and West Hartford Public Schools’ Deaf Services Team, with mural artist Michael Rice, will create a mural for local Deaf and Hard of Hearing community. The fundraiser launched Jan. 6 and closes Mar. 7 to support installation above the east entrance to Noah Webster Library in Blue Back Square.  We-Ha
  • James Taylor will perform with his band at the Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater in Bridgeport on June 22 — a summer stop on his tour that also visits Saratoga Springs, Boston, Atlantic City and Hershey.  Connecticut Post

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Macy’s will lay off 57 workers at its South Windsor distribution center when the customer returns facility closes by Saturday, Mar. 14 — the retailer said affected workers will receive details on severance and transfer options.  Connecticut Post

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The University of Hartford and several local colleges relaunched an education consortium (including UConn Hartford and Trinity College) to strengthen connections between learning and local employers, with fall cross-registration set to begin May 1.  University of Hartford

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Record bear sightings were reported across Connecticut during 2025, with West Hartford recording nearly 1,100 incidents and Farmington more than 500; officials urge residents to secure trash and avoid pet food outside to discourage bears. Experts advise making loud noises if a bear is encountered to safely deter it.  WFSB-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Monday, Attorney General William Tong announced that a federal judge blocked efforts to suspend work on the nearly complete Revolution Wind offshore project off the Rhode Island coast (allowing construction to resume), and state officials say its progress will soon help lower electricity costs for local families and businesses.  CT News Junkie

  • Hartford HealthCare unveiled lactation pods for nursing families at MidState Medical Center in Meriden on Tuesday. The pods offer a quiet, private space for mothers to nurse.  WFSB-TV

  • Young figure skater Maxim Naumov from Simsbury earned a Team USA spot for the Winter Olympics in Italy after finishing third at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships in Missouri this weekend. His achievement comes nearly one year after he lost both parents in a plane crash.  WFSB-TV
