- ➤ Tomorrow, the American Federation of Teachers and Brighton Park Neighborhood Council will file court updates on the cancellation of Full-Service Community Schools grants affecting programs in New Haven, Waterbury and Hartford. The move would remove $1.2 million from Hartford schools as part of a $150 million grant cancellation (details pending). Connecticut Post
- ➤ The Greater Hartford Gives Foundation approved $50,000 in grants to help local students pursue post-secondary education. The funding allocates $37,000 to UConn School of Social Work for its Connecticut ¡Adelante! Program and $12,000 to Future Forward CT to support adult learners. FOX61
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Access Health CT extended its enrollment deadline to Jan. 31 so residents can sign up for health and dental coverage beginning Feb. 1. Applicants must provide identification and income documents to enroll. Connecticut Post
- ➤ Connecticut residents using Access Health face higher insurance costs after federal subsidies expired Dec. 31, although Gov. Lamont authorized a $70 million state contribution to partly ease increases; enrollment is extended to Jan. 31 for coverage starting Feb. 1 (rates vary by income). Connecticut Post
- ➤ Hartford HealthCare's St. Vincent's Medical Center received a $15 million gift from the Neil Mellen estate to expand its cancer treatment center. The hospital will use the investment to build state-of-the-art treatment spaces (with enhanced patient amenities and new technologies) that will make it a key regional destination for cancer care.
