  • A 2-alarm fire displaced four families from a three-story mixed-use building on Albany Avenue overnight, and fire crews responded before 12:30 a.m. while the American Red Cross provides aid.  FOX61

  • McDonald's launched its limited-edition Grinch Meal on Dec. 2 featuring dill pickle-flavored McShaker fries and Dr. Seuss-themed socks at select locations; at the Hartford restaurant on Washington St., a large Chicken McNuggets meal costs $13.79 while supplies last.  Connecticut Post

HEALTH NEWS

  • Aetna and UConn Health failed to agree on a new contract Monday — leaving 15,000 patients without in-network access at UConn Health and John Dempsey Hospital and forcing families to seek new doctors or face higher costs. Lawmakers urged a swift fix to protect patient care.  WFSB-TV

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • In East Hartford, crews were seen on Dec. 1 working on the redevelopment at (363 Roberts St.) of the former hotel originally planned to reopen in 2024; the Kautilya Group is adding a Starbucks drive-thru and hospitality upgrades while no occupancy certificates have been issued.  Connecticut Post

  • Today, Connecticut high school and prep school football players participate in National Signing Day 2025-26 as the early signing period runs from Dec. 3 to Dec. 5, and the evolving list will update through the summer.  Connecticut Post
  • Hartford Hurricanes’ eight-year-old football team—first in state history to qualify—is headed to Charlotte to compete in the Pop Warner Super Bowl on Sunday, Dec. 7 after wrapping up Wednesday night’s practice.  FOX61
  • All eight high school football leagues in Connecticut are joining the Connecticut High School Football Alliance for one game in the 2026 season, including the Pequot (the last holdout) conference. League officials said games will begin around Sept. 18 as teams get ready to play against schools from across the state.  Connecticut Post
  • On Dec. 3, UConn coach Dan Hurley faced hostile chants at Allen Fieldhouse as Kansas fans booed during a game that ended with a 61-56 win for the Huskies. Hurley said he did not let the crowd's behavior affect him.  Connecticut Post
  • Today, the 2025 GametimeCT All-State Girls Volleyball team was introduced—featuring top high school players from Glastonbury, Greenwich, and other communities with standout stats and future college plans.
