COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On Saturday morning, 63 veterans from Windsor Locks flew on Breeze Airways to Washington, D.C. as part of the Fall 2025 Honor Flight—cheers were heard at Bradley International Airport as they honored decades of service.  FOX61
  • The 15th Connecticut Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Run will take place on Oct. 26 in Middletown at the historic Wadsworth Mansion to raise funds for groups that support law enforcement families. Hundreds of runners, including local officers and community members, will join the 5K run and a post-race celebration hosted by Concentric Brewing—honoring fallen officers while raising vital funds.  FOX61

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Friday afternoon, a construction crew struck a high-pressure gas line at 147 Oliver Way in Bloomfield, causing residents to evacuate and power to be shut off—crews worked for two hours to secure the leak with no reported injuries.  WTNH News 8

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Stratford-based Sikorsky has landed a $10.855 billion Navy contract to build up to 99 heavy-lift helicopters for the Marine Corps with deliveries scheduled from 2029 to 2034—Connecticut leaders call the deal a win for local jobs and the regional economy.  FOX61

CULTURE NEWS

  • At Pratt & Whitney Stadium in East Hartford, Magic of Lights will return on November 26 and run through January 3rd, 2026 with a drive-thru holiday light display. The event, now in its fifth year, features a new Reindeer Rest Stop—along with over 2 million lights and 12.6 miles of light cord—to bring a festive experience for families.  WFSB-TV
  • CT Witch Crawl is a month-long event that will begin Oct 1, inviting residents to visit over 45 local witchy shops and collect code words for a raffle plus the opening and closing ceremony will be held at In the Dustlight in Oxford. Participating stores include cideries, bookstores and thrift stores across the state.  Connecticut Post

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The state is continuing work on a wrong-way detection system on highways across Connecticut. More details on the project progress will be shared as the work moves forward.  NBC Connecticut

HEALTH NEWS

  • Caregivers in Colchester, Manchester, Andover and Vernon marched Saturday morning to demand a 0.2% boost in pension contributions from Network Inc. — Caring Community and Alternative Services Inc. They said the increase is needed to avoid monthly pension cuts and vowed to strike until an agreement is signed.  NBC Connecticut
  • More than 600 people joined the ALS United Connecticut Walk at Dunkin’ Park in Hartford Saturday to support those affected by ALS—participants completed three laps around the stadium with strong community spirit. Future walks will take place in New Haven on Oct. 5 and Westport on Oct. 18 to offer more chances for support.  FOX61
  • Yesterday, ALS United Connecticut hosted its most highly attended Hartford ALS Walk event at Dunkin' Park—drawing over 600 supporters for the cause.  FOX61
