ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A vigil — held at 6 p.m. on Shultas Place in Hartford — was organized by Mothers United Against Violence to honor the two adults and two children killed in a fatal house fire earlier this week.  Connecticut Post
  • A tragic fire on Shultas Place in Hartford left a family with nothing and killed four people including two children as community members set up a GoFundMe and donation boxes while Mayor Arunan Arulampalam visited the memorial and a vigil is planned for Sunday at 4 p.m. with state police investigating the cause—family members are taking it one day at a time.  WFSB-TV

CRIME NEWS

  • Police in Connecticut are searching for Mason Payne, 23, who is wanted for a domestic incident in Vermont and for dragging a state trooper during a stop on I-91 in Massachusetts—he is believed to be armed and dangerous and driving an older black Audi A3 with temporary Vermont plates.  FOX61

  • The Connecticut Sun Foundation provided $250 shopping sprees and supplies to 80 local students for the back-to-school season—supporting families as they prepare for the new school year.  FOX61

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Connecticut health insurers have requested premium hikes from 5.9% to 26.1% for 2026 on plans serving about 224,000 residents, and regulators say these increases could strain working and middle-class families. Insurance Commissioner Andrew Mais noted that filings from seven companies, including Anthem and Oxford, also affect 70,000 small business employees—raising cost concerns.  We-Ha

  • Yesterday, Connecticut’s Fairfield National played Nevada at the Little League World Series in Williamsport as they fought for a spot in the U.S. Championship game.
