ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Two firefighters were taken to hospital with minor injuries after a fire broke out at a commercial property at 210 Wethersfield Ave in Hartford early Thursday morning—additional crews were called on a second alarm to extinguish the blaze—and investigators are now looking into the cause.  WTNH News 8

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Pratt & Whitney will furlough employees at its Middletown facility from July 5 to 9 as planned maintenance takes advantage of slower production during the holiday; this follows a three-week strike by nearly 3,100 machinists in May, and affected employees can use paid time off or take unpaid leave while other operations continue normally & officials have not disclosed how many workers will be impacted.  Connecticut Post

CRIME NEWS

  • Police said a man in his 20s was shot with a single gunshot wound early Thursday morning on New Britain Avenue and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment + officers closed part of the street as the investigation continues.  FOX61
  • Closing arguments began Thursday morning in the murder trial of Raul Valle following a fatal prep school party & further details will be provided as the trial continues.  WFSB-TV
  • ICE data shows that migrant arrests in Connecticut rose nearly 125% from 110 to 247 between Jan. 20th and mid-June, with 54 of these arrests occurring in Hartford and Ecuadorians making up 26% of the total—official figures also detail stops in surrounding areas including Stamford, Waterbury, Danbury and Bridgeport.  Connecticut Public
