CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A ShotSpotter alert led police to find two gunshot victims in Hartford Sunday morning, and emergency crews transported the two adult males to a local hospital at 7:24 a.m. where they remain stable—investigators are looking into the case. WTNH News 8
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Governor Lamont will change HB 5002 before signing it—Rep. Eleni Kavros DeGraw explained that the bill lets towns convert empty commercial buildings into up to nine affordable housing units while still checking local safety and traffic. DeGgraw added that towns will set a target of 25% of a broader housing goal and plan over several years to meet this number. NBC Connecticut
- ➤ Erin Gorman Kirk, the state cannabis ombudsman, said she is working to help Connecticut boost its adult-use cannabis market as registered medical marijuana patients fell from 50,000 to 34,000 and House Bill 7178 will allow stronger THC products starting October 1— a change meant to keep patients in the state. She is also coordinating with growers and the Department of Consumer Protection to address quality issues in the products. CT News Junkie
