A passerby found an unresponsive pedestrian on South Main Street early Saturday morning and called 911, prompting police and fire crews to investigate a hit-and-run and transport the seriously injured person to a hospital (incident reported at 2:04 a.m.) as officials confirmed the offending vehicle was not located (no arrests have been made).
Hartford Mayor Arulampalam praised the new state budget—valued at $55.8 billion—for helping fill the Board of Education’s funding gap and support summer jobs for local youth.
The budget provides an extra $6.2 million for local schools and will combine with city funds to give over 800 young people paid work opportunities, and the mayor thanked state lawmakers for their backing.
