  • Latina community leaders were honored Sunday at the annual Mujer Hispana Connecticut Awards in Berlin — 14 women received recognition for their leadership, service and contributions to the community. Founded by Yanina Cuentas, the 15-year event celebrated local women who uplift families across the state.  NBC Connecticut

  • Spitz Mediterranean Street Food will open on Friday, June 12 at 138 Park Road in West Hartford. Owners Nick and Paige Chamberlain have renovated the former Plan B space and will feature a family-friendly Mediterranean menu with local murals.  We-Ha

SPORTS NEWS

  • Simsbury ended Conard’s perfect season on Thursday, May 28 when the Trojans beat the Red Wolves 9-3 in the CCC championship game at Conard High School. Conard now gears up for the state tournament after its first loss this year (Ashley Gorman is out with a knee injury).  We-Ha
  • Plainville and Manchester clinched state titles in the CIAC's second annual girls flag football state championships at Windsor High School—Plainville won 25-0 in Class M while Manchester claimed a 26-0 victory in Class L. The expanded format now offers two classes for more teams to join.  WFSB-TV
  • Nearly 10,500 fans attended the Connecticut Sun’s return game on Saturday afternoon at PeoplesBank Arena, showing strong local support for the WNBA team. The event added excitement to the area’s sports culture.  Connecticut Post
