ECONOMY NEWS

  • Representing over 3,000 workers, the IAM Union said Pratt & Whitney machinists will meet with company officials at 10 a.m. Thursday in East Hartford to negotiate job security, wages, healthcare and retirement after a three-week strike.  WTIC

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Connecticut Senate approved a bill that stops police from using handcuffs on kids under 14 except when they pose a public safety threat or a court orders their use—if the House passes it and the governor signs, the rule will start on Oct. 1.  Connecticut Post
  • Nonprofit service groups & their clients rallied outside the state Capitol on Tuesday to demand more funding, with Community Health Resources President and CEO Heather Gates warning that programs risk closing. Legislators are continuing budget talks with a deadline of June 4 while critics say that without higher Medicaid rates, more hardships like overdoses & suicides may occur.  NBC Connecticut
