- ➤ On May 14th, Connecticut Foodshare said that over 516,000 people in the state are facing food insecurity—a jump of more than 10% from last year that leaves one in seven residents at risk. The nonprofit said federal funding cuts have reduced food aid, including the loss of 34 truckloads of food, and local lawmakers are working to help reverse these cuts. CT News Junkie

- ➤ Pratt & Whitney machinists began their strike on May 5 and reached the 10th day on Wednesday as they protest for higher wages, better healthcare and job security. A company letter warned that if negotiations stall and the strike continues into a third week, workers’ healthcare will be cut + talks remain unscheduled. WFSB-TV

- ➤ Live Nation launches a $30 Ticket to Summer deal that lets fans buy tickets for over 1,000 summer shows at venues like Xfinity Theatre in Hartford and Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater in Bridgeport starting May 21. - ➤ Lawmakers in Hartford passed a bill on Wednesday to raise the minimum age for some social media apps to 18 and restrict algorithm use without parental consent—an effort to protect children online. The measure is moving to the Senate for approval. WFSB-TV

- ➤ Hartford Hospital raised a record $6 million at its annual Black and Red gala on May 10 at The Bushnell—over 1,100 guests attended and a $3 million matching gift from Tallwood boosted the funds to support the Center for Education, Simulation and Innovation's medical training programs. FOX61
- ➤ A public health alert has been issued for ready-to-eat chicken and bacon wraps after a product sample tested positive for Listeria; the items were produced on May 2 and are no longer available for purchase.
