ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Two fires on Edgewood Street this past weekend displaced 24 people as firefighters battled separate blazes.  WFSB-TV
  • Early Sunday morning on Edgewood Street, crews battled heavy fire conditions in a three-story multifamily home — leaving three families displaced as CT Transit and the American Red Cross provided assistance — with no injuries reported.  NBC Connecticut

  • Nana’s Dim Sum & Dumplings will soon open at 111 Memorial Road in Blue Back Square—marking its first location in Connecticut as the restaurant group expands from New York and Colorado.  We-Ha

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Connecticut gas prices jumped 30 cents in one week and now average $4.52 per gallon (according to AAA).  WFSB-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Ned Lamont ordered all U.S. and state flags to be flown at half-staff on Sunday as the state observed the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service. The ceremony recognized 204 fallen firefighters nationwide and honored 364 Connecticut firefighters who died in the line of duty since 1852.  WTNH News 8
  • Connecticut lawmakers approved a law that requires student-athletes to undergo a heart screening during their physical exam starting fall, 2027. One father, Artie DiRocco (who lost his son), pushed for extra EKG tests for high-intensity sports, but feedback from coaches and doctors led to that idea being removed.  News 12 Connecticut

  • Connecticut's Human Services Committee introduced SB 494 with changes to the 340B Drug Pricing Program that risk raising patients' out-of-pocket costs and reducing oversight; health experts warn the proposal could harm cancer patients who depend on discounted drugs (the bill is still under review).  CT Mirror
