  • YWCA New Britain’s Childcare Business Incubator received $120,000 in funding from M&T Bank to help ease the local childcare shortage and train women to run daycare centers. The program has trained eight people so far — it aims to help entrepreneurs move to their own centers in three to five years.  NBC Connecticut

CRIME NEWS

  • Alex Oyola-Sanchez, 45 of Hartford, who was high on drugs when he fatally struck Trooper Aaron Pelletier during a traffic stop on I-84 on May 30th, pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter and was sentenced Tuesday to 18 years in prison at New Britain Superior Court while apologizing to the trooper's family.  Connecticut Public

  • On April 24, the West Hartford Fire Department held a badge-pinning ceremony at Town Hall, promoting seven members—including two new deputy chiefs—and welcoming a new fire inspector (Adam Pillsbury).
