Good morning, Hartford. Here's your local news at a glance for Friday, the 11th of April.

HEALTH NEWS

  • Plaintiffs and disability advocates announced Thursday morning at the Hartford Judicial District Courthouse that they filed a lawsuit to ask the state to raise income and asset limits for disabled and elderly people under Husky Medicaid Part C— they claim the current rules keep people from getting needed health care. Lawmakers raised limits in 2023 but Gov. Lamont later rolled back the change, and the suit seeks to correct the disparity.  CT News Junkie
  • The FDA announced a recall of about 1,700 pounds of Cabot Creamery 8oz Extra Creamy Premium Butter Sea Salted due to elevated levels of coliform bacteria — most of the product was recovered before reaching stores. Agri-Mark said it recovered 99.5% of the lot and noted only 17 packages were sold in Vermont during the recall that began March 25.  NBC Connecticut

SPORTS NEWS

  • Preparations are underway for a UConn women’s basketball national champion parade and rally that has been rescheduled to Sunday due to heavy rain concerns—parade officials say the event will begin at 1 p.m. at the state capitol, wind around Bushnell Park, and end at the XL Center while Hartford’s Proud Drill, Drum and Dance Corp expressed relief that the route remains unchanged. Organizers expect more marchers as the weather is forecast to improve.  NBC Connecticut
