CT DMV Commissioner Tony Guerrera admitted that the agency never created a system to track funds from unclaimed towed vehicles as a century-old law requires—one meant to return extra proceeds to car owners or the state.
Lawmakers have proposed a bill that will require tow companies to report sale details within 15 days so unclaimed funds go to the state's unclaimed property fund.
Immigration attorneys say detainees in centers face inhuman and overcrowded conditions — in some cases, there is no space to lie down.
They say these reports will prompt further oversight of the centers.
