- ➤ Hartford police responded to a Tuesday report of shots fired on Vine Street near Greenfield Street—finding 50-year-old Michael Coleman with a fatal stomach wound and noting that authorities are searching for the suspect who fled in a black vehicle toward Albany Avenue. FOX61
- ➤ Israel Mendoza, a Reading man, was sentenced to 7 years in federal prison plus 3 years of supervised release for trafficking cocaine and heroin into Connecticut—he was linked to a Hartford-area narcotics network investigated since 2018 and was arrested in California in 2023. WTNH News 8

- ➤ State Rep. Jillian Gilchrest of West Hartford met with advocacy leaders at the Legislative Office Building on April 2 to protest the firing of LIHEAP workers — State Sen. Matt Lesser warned the firings may leave low-income families without heating help. We-Ha
- ➤ The Aging Committee approved House Bill 7026 that lets the Department of Social Services add Medicaid-certified nursing home beds when occupancy stays above 96% for two quarters.
