GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A loophole in Connecticut’s building code allows cheap PVC piping for venting furnaces and water heaters, and officials are in final review of a proposed fix – the change will require certified vent materials expected to take effect mid-2026.  CT Mirror
  • Gov. Ned Lamont has proposed House Bill 5044 today to expand state power over vaccine policy by allowing the health commissioner to issue recommendations for adult vaccines and requiring insurers to cover state-recommended shots (the measure comes amid mixed federal guidance and follows recent public hearings).  CT Mirror

  • The undefeated UConn Huskies women beat sixth-seeded Notre Dame 70-52 in the Elite Eight on Sunday + advanced to the Final Four, prompting campus celebrations as they look ahead to the NCAA tournament.  WFSB-TV
