  • Blue Hills Civic Association closed due to financial mismanagement and frozen state funds, causing over 30 staff layoffs and ending the popular Parent Power meetings. Local families lost a vital support hub as former employees and city officials work to rebuild youth programs and community services (despite tight budgets).  Connecticut Post

CULTURE NEWS

  • Global superstars Post Malone and Jelly Roll will bring their Big Ass Stadium Tour 2 to Pratt and Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field on June 22 — ticket presale starts Feb. 6 at 10:00 a.m. while general sales begin Feb. 10 at 10:00 a.m.  WFSB-TV
  • Hartford’s CT Science Center will reopen Wednesday after a pipe break on Sunday caused minor water damage that was fixed quickly. Visitors with pre-purchased tickets can use them on a future visit or request a refund, and all exhibits remain unaffected.  Connecticut Post

  • Realtor.com data show Hartford’s housing market is one of the nation’s tightest with 3.3 months of supply and prices projected to rise 17.1% this year. Fewer new listings and harsh winter weather have driven buyers to look for affordable options elsewhere.  Connecticut Post

SPORTS NEWS

  • UConn signee Olivia Vukosa was named a 2026 McDonald's All-American on Monday. The No. 3-ranked recruit from Christ the King, who played at UConn's recent home game, will compete for the East roster in Glendale, Arizona on March 31.  Connecticut Post
  • UConn women remained unbeaten at 23-0 after defeating Tennessee 96-66 in Hartford at PeoplesBank Arena on Feb. 1 (they earned all 31 first-place votes) and will begin an eight-game Big East schedule on Wednesday.  Connecticut Post
  • UConn extended its win streak to 17 games with an 85-58 win over Creighton last weekend, boosting its record to 21-1 while chasing unbeaten Arizona. The Huskies will face Xavier in Hartford at PeoplesBank Arena at 7 p.m. today (game broadcast on Peacock and NBC Sports Network).  WFSB-TV
  • Max Naumov, a native of Simsbury, triumphed at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships as his hometown rallied behind him after a personal loss, and he is headed to Milan for the Olympics.  Connecticut Post
  • The Hartford Yard Goats announced they will use the Rock Cats name for two May games against the Altoona Curve, marking the first time since their New Britain days. Tickets go on sale Thursday and new uniforms and logos will be revealed Wednesday night (7 p.m. online for merchandise).  NBC Connecticut
  • Connecticut venues are set to host Super Bowl LX watch parties featuring Bad Bunny's halftime performance on Sunday. Events include party packages with food and drink specials at locations in New Haven, Hartford, Danbury, Middletown, West Hartford, Somers, Mystic, and more—each offering a unique game day experience.  Connecticut Post
