  • Hartford Wolf Pack’s annual food drive exceeded its goal Friday night (collecting over 1,000 pounds of donations) to support a local nonprofit serving families in need.  WFSB-TV
  • Tuesday night, outreach workers conducted their annual count of unhoused residents in freezing conditions by checking multiple spots including a wooded area (near Pine Street) where one man agreed to seek shelter. Officials will process and verify the data for later release.  NBC Connecticut
  • On Jan. 27, snow removal is underway in Hartford as public schools remain closed for a second day under severe cold weather protocols extended by Gov. due to Winter Storm Benjamin. Additional reports mention flight delays and updates on the UConn men's basketball game.  WFSB-TV

  • Dave Matthews Band will return to Hartford after a three-year break in a performance following Matthews headlining Greenwich Town Party with longtime guitarist Tim Reynolds — an anticipated local music event.  Connecticut Post

EDUCATION NEWS

  • U.S. News released its 2026 rankings Tuesday, highlighting Connecticut online degree programs; the University of New Haven’s online criminal justice master’s program ranked No. 1 in the nation while UConn led in online nursing+engineering programs. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The final phase of Bradley International Airport’s terminal upgrade is done and the new concourse at Terminal A will open in coming weeks. The $250 million project adds extra airline gates, dining, and retail options (plus expanded security and baggage screening) to serve a growing passenger base.  Connecticut Post

  • The No. 2 UConn men’s basketball team outpaced Providence 87—81 at Gampel Pavilion on Tuesday. Tarris Reed Jr. scored 19 points as the Huskies improved to 20—1 and will travel to Nebraska on Saturday to face Creighton on FOX.  FOX61
  • West Hartford's annual boys swimming invitational will take place at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31 at the Cornerstone Aquatics Center. Swimmers will race various distances in all four strokes (admission is free, but arrive early as space is limited).  Connecticut Post
