  • Crêpes Choupette has opened a new restaurant in West Hartford Center, replacing the former Donut Crazy location at 993 Farmington Ave (its fourth location statewide). The menu includes sweet and savory crepes, omelettes, salads, and coffee.  Connecticut Post

ECONOMY NEWS

  • The Connecticut Department of Labor reported that unemployment rose slightly to 4% in November though it remains below the national rate of 4.6%. Job changes were mixed with 700 jobs lost in October and 2,100 gained in November, and job seekers are urged to use local American Job Center resources.  FOX61

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Fresh fruits available today rely on a global network using fossil fuels & refrigerated transportation to bring strawberries from Mexico, oranges from California and Florida, grapes and blueberries from Chile, and bananas from Ecuador, while local greenhouses in Connecticut supply some produce despite higher heating use.  CT Mirror

  • Oxford resident Sara Machowski joined UConn coach Dan Hurley at the podium during Saturday’s postgame press conference at PeoplesBank Arena following the Huskies’ 72-60 win over DePaul (her close ties with the team led to the surprise invite).  Connecticut Post
  • At Saturday’s Hall vs. Conard hockey game, Connor McHugh of Hall High School received the Luke Roux Memorial Award — a $500 scholarship honoring Luke’s core values.  We-Ha
  • Conard scored three third-period goals to defeat Hall (6-3) at Veterans on Jan. 10; senior Torin McGoldrick recorded his 100th career point with a hat trick while Connor McHugh also reached 100.  We-Ha
